PersatuanindoNEWS.com - Real action of the national movement to commemorate the 78th anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia's Independence, the Metro Jaya Regional Police took proactive steps to preserve the environment and create a better world by participating in the planting of 15,000 trees. The event took place at the RPTRA M.H. THAMRIN in the Kenari Village, Senen Subdistrict, Central Jakarta on Friday, August 18, 2023.

The program "Polri Lestarikan Negeri Penghijauan Sejak Dini" (The Indonesian National Police Preserves the Country through Early Greening) is an initiative proposed by the National Police Chief, General Pol. Listyo Sigit Prabowo. This initiative demonstrates the Indonesian National Police's concern for the environment.

Among those present at the tree planting event were the Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief, represented by the Head of Human Resources Division, Kompol Rosiana Nurwidajati, S.E., the Head of Personnel Affairs, Kompol Yunarto, the Deputy Chief of the Senen Subdistrict Police, Kompol Sirajudin, the Commander of the 03 Senen Military District, Mayor Ahmad, the Sub-district Secretary of Senen, Ms. Venitrin, the Head of Kenari Village, Mrs. Ojoh, local religious figures, as well as the members of the Family Welfare Movement (PKK) and Jumatik (Friday prayer group) from Kenari Village.

Kompol Rosiana Nurwidajati stated that the greening initiative by the police was carried out simultaneously, including at the RPTRA M.H. THAMRIN in Kenari and in the jurisdiction of the Central Jakarta Metro Police by planting 15,000 trees.

"We are saving the Earth through the police's greening initiative. We started at the Indonesian National Police Academy in Metro Jaya by planting 5,000 trees, and then the remaining 10,000 trees were planted in 10 areas under the jurisdiction of the Central Jakarta Metro Police, with each area planting 1,000 trees. The trees planted include teak, sengon, and fruit trees," explained Rosiana.

According to Rosiana Nurwidajati, tree planting has many benefits, such as addressing flood problems, reducing the threat of global warming, increasing oxygen production, and specifically reducing air pollution levels in the Jakarta Capital Region and its surroundings, which have exceeded healthy thresholds.

This tree planting activity is also a tangible manifestation of collaboration between the police and the community. Local residents joined in this action, demonstrating a shared awareness of preserving nature and creating a healthier and more sustainable environment.

Rosiana added, "The role of the police is not only limited to law enforcement but also actively involved in social activities that benefit the community and the environment."

Rosiana hopes that the planting of 15,000 trees spread across 8 locations within the jurisdiction of the Central Jakarta Metro Police can make unused land more productive and the benefits can be directly felt by the surrounding community.

Furthermore, this activity also serves as an educational platform for the public about the importance of preserving the environment for a better future.
