Regent Zaki Issues a Remission Decree on RI's Independence Day, 21 People Are Freed

In detail, there were 790 prisoners who received general remission I, ranging from 1 to 5 months. There were 28 prisoners who received general remission II, and among them, 21 prisoners were immediately released on this day.

Tangerang Regent Ahmed Zaki Iskandar issued a General Remission Decree for prisoners and juvenile inmates in commemoration of the 78th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia. The event took place at the Class 1 Detention Center in Jambe, Tangerang. Thursday, (17/8/23).

In his speech, Regent Zaki stated that the remissions were intended for prisoners and inmates at the Class 1 Detention Center in Jambe and the Open Prison in Legok, Tangerang Regency. He congratulated the recipients of the remissions.

"Today, I am present at the ceremony of granting remissions to inmates at the Class 1 Detention Center in Jambe and the Open Prison in Ciangir. I congratulate the inmates who received remissions today," said the Regent.

Regent Zaki advised the inmates that when they return to society, they should reintegrate and join their families with a renewed spirit and motivation to become better individuals.

"For the inmates who have just received or will receive remissions, I hope they can rejoin society with a new spirit. Let us not repeat the mistakes of the past," he urged.

The Regent also expressed his gratitude to the Head of the Detention Center and all staff members who have been assisting in the rehabilitation of inmates in Tangerang.

Meanwhile, Zaenal Fikri, the Head of the Class 1 Detention Center in Jambe, Tangerang, stated that the general remissions granted on August 17, 2023, were for prisoners and inmates at the Class 1 Detention Center in Tangerang and the Class II B Open Prison in Ciangir in commemoration of the 78th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia.

"A total of 818 prisoners received general remissions on August 17, including 790 prisoners who received general remission I, ranging from 1 to 5 months, and 28 prisoners who received general remission II. Among them, 21 prisoners were immediately released on this day," explained Zaenal Fikri.

He further mentioned that there are still 7 prisoners who have subsidiary punishment replaced with imprisonment. As for the Class II B Open Prison in Ciangir, there were 26 prisoners who received general remission I.
