The planned brawl was organized by several groups in Palembang and Banyuasin on Monday (08/14) at around 9 PM. The location of the brawl was intended to take place in the Tanah Merah Talang Betutu area in Palembang and Sukomoro km 14 Talang Kelapa in the Banyuasin Regency, with an estimated participation of 200 people.

"After receiving the information, the Sub-Directorate III of the Criminal Investigation Directorate of the South Sumatra Regional Police and the Sukarami and Talang Kelapa Police Stations immediately moved towards the two locations," said AKBP Tulus Sinaga, the Deputy Director of the Criminal Investigation Directorate of the South Sumatra Regional Police. When the authorities arrived at the locations, the perpetrators attempted to flee in confusion but were successfully apprehended, resulting in the arrest of 24 individuals, the seizure of 15 motorcycles, 10 sharp weapons, and 15 mobile phones. The majority of the perpetrators were students and graduates of vocational schools (SMK), some were unemployed, and others were employed.

"If we had been late, undesirable incidents could have occurred, and people could have been injured due to their possession of sharp weapons," stated Tulus Sinaga. After the apprehension, the perpetrators will be documented and provided with guidance, following which they will be handed over to the Department of Social Affairs for rehabilitation and a better future.

"Tulus Sinaga also reminded parents to be more vigilant and attentive to their children. If their children have not returned home at night, they should search for them. Parents should avoid being overly preoccupied with work and earning money while neglecting their children," he emphasized.

A poignant atmosphere filled with tears could be observed as the parents and families bid farewell to the 24 perpetrators who would be handed over to the Department of Social Affairs in Indralaya, Ogan Ilir, for further rehabilitation.
