North Sumatra Regional Police Chief Invites Medan City Night Entertainment Venue Managers to Unite Against Narcotics
PersatuanindoNEWS.com - The Chief of North Sumatra Regional Police, Inspector General Agung Setya, stated that narcotics are a common enemy, and therefore, we all become pioneers in eradicating them.

"In addressing the problem of narcotics in North Sumatra, the open geographical factor allows drugs to easily enter the region," he said during an event attending the commitment of nightlife entertainment venue operators in Medan City to reject the illicit drug trade on Friday, September 8, 2023.

According to him, the illicit drug trade not only targets adults and teenagers but also children. It is well-known that narcotics have negative impacts on health and public order.

"The success of the North Sumatra Regional Police in combating drug abuse does not solely rely on disclosure results but also on preventive measures against the illicit drug trade, which is the most crucial aspect," he explained.

Agung hopes that this joint commitment can be realized tangibly and sustainably, so that the goal of creating a drug-free North Sumatra can be achieved.

"To the operators or owners of nightlife entertainment venues in Medan City, I urge you to commit together in rejecting the illicit drug trade," he expressed, adding that 60 percent of criminal offenders are drug users.

"I, along with the Regional Leadership Communication Forum, are committed to imposing the harshest sanctions, including the death penalty, on anyone involved in drug-related crimes, and I will also take strict actions against anyone who supports narcotics. Let us all become pioneers in the fight against drugs towards a better life," he concluded.
