"The owner of the illicit LPG station, identified as BSS, surrendered to the Sumatra North Regional Police along with his family and legal advisor," said Head of Public Relations, Police Commissioner Hadi Wahyudi, on Wednesday (August 16, 2023).
He mentioned that Benny is currently undergoing questioning at the Sumatra North Regional Police's Criminal Investigation Unit building. "He has been cooperative," added Hadi.
Previously, the Sumatra North Regional Police's Criminal Investigation Unit and the Medan Sunggal Metropolitan Police arrested three individuals involved in illegally refilling 3-kg subsidized gas cylinders during a raid on an LPG station located on Kapuas Street, Bunga Alley, Medan Sunggal District.
The three individuals involved in the illegal refilling operation, identified as RT, NF, and APG, were apprehended while engaging in the illegal activity.
"All three suspects have been officially designated as suspects," said Hadi.
The spokesperson for the Sumatra North Regional Police revealed that each of the three suspects had their respective roles. RT's task was to transfer the gas from 3-kg cylinders to 12-kg or 50-kg cylinders using a pipe as a tool.
NF was responsible for cleaning up after the refilling process, while APG played a role in selling the 12-kg cylinders. Meanwhile, the owner with the initials BSS managed to flee and is currently being pursued.
Hadi added that the modus operandi of the LPG station involved transferring the contents of 3-kg cylinders into cylinders ranging from 12 kg to 50 kg in size.
