PersatuanindoNEWS.com - Made Guruh Anggara Putra (16) is the National Flag Bearer Unit (Paskibraka) for August 17, 2023, from Bali Province. The 16-year-old student hails from Lepang Hamlet, Takmung Village, Banjarangkan District, Klungkung Regency.

He is a 10th-grade student at SMA Negeri 1 Semarapura and successfully made it to the national level through various selection processes. Behind his achievement, there is an interesting story of this second child among three siblings.

Guruh's father, I Wayan Suarnika, shared that before his son departed for Jakarta, he had to sell recyclables collected from the beach to buy new shoes.

Guruh and other representatives from Bali then left with officials from the Bali Provincial Education Office. "At that time, I escorted him to Ngurah Rai Airport. There was no official send-off from the government, but he remained enthusiastic for the country," said Suarnika, accompanied by his wife, Luh Putu Megawati, at their home on Wednesday (August 16, 2023).

Suarnika explained that his second child actively participates in school and community activities. Guruh became interested in joining Paskibraka after being inspired by his older sibling who participated at the district level.

"This child is diligent and hardworking. He joins the gamelan ensemble, is active in school activities, especially marching," said the Head of the Village Consultative Body (BPD) of Takmung.

Guruh had to undergo various tests during the selection process for the National Paskibraka. These included parades, health assessments, fitness tests, psychological tests, and drill regulations (Peraturan Baris-berbaris).

Guruh regularly engages in running exercises along the beach since his home is close to the Lepang Klungkung Beach area. Additionally, he has taken various language courses to enhance his knowledge.

"He aspires to enter the Police Academy (Akpol). Hopefully, his dream will be realized, and as parents, we'll continue to support the best for our child," Suarnika expressed.

Previously, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) inaugurated 76 members of the 2023 Flag Bearer Unit (Paskibraka). Among the 76 members, six were representatives from Bali and the Lesser Sunda Islands (Nusa Tenggara).

Bali was represented by Komang Andini Tria Amanda from Denpasar and Made Guruh Anggara Putra from Klungkung. West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) was represented by Putri Lintang Sari from West Lombok and Muhammad Andhika Pratama from Central Lombok.

East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) was represented by Gita Natin Ngura Habba Lagu from West Sumba and Passya Fredrick Sihupala from Alor.
