PersatuanindoNews.com - A total of four quintals or 150 sacks of garbage were collected during a Ciliwung River cleanup activity involving 125 female police officers (Polwan) in the Ciliwung River. This social action is part of the celebration of the 75th anniversary of Polwan RI (Indonesian Women Police).
The Ciliwung River cleanup took place at the Kali Ciliwung Bridge in Kalibata, Cililitan, East Jakarta. Using eight rubber boats, the Polwan RI carried out the social action along the banks of the Ciliwung River.
"This activity is a form of social engagement in commemoration of the 75th anniversary of the Indonesian Women Police. We hope that the presence of Polwan can be beneficial both to the surrounding community and to the banks of the Ciliwung River. This year's activity aligns with 75 years of Polwan's dedication to the nation," said Polwan RI Chief Brigadier General Desy Andriani in Jakarta on Wednesday (August 16, 2023).
Brigadier General Desy stated that this social activity is one of the ways Polwan serves the community, with the hope of providing benefits to the people.
According to her, the dedication of Polwan extends not only to the environment but also to healthcare, as they are involved in special child development institutions and women's prisons.
"So, this is one of the activities in our 2023 program. We hope that the presence of Polwan can be felt by the wider community," said Brigadier General Desy.
Meanwhile, the Chairperson of the Polwan RI Social Welfare Section, Commissioner of Police AKBP Ganis, stated that hundreds of personnel were involved in the event, including officers from the Public Facility Maintenance Agency (PPSU), Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Environmental Agency, and environmental observers.
AKBP Ganis mentioned that the Ciliwung River cleanup activity was accompanied by a social welfare program where packages of staple food items were distributed to the communities living along the riverbank.
"Approximately 100 packages of staple food items were distributed to the communities around the Ciliwung River. It is hoped that this assistance can alleviate the economic burden of those in need," said AKBP Ganis.
