Kasad General Dudung Abdurachman Enlivens the 2023 Kasad Cup Art and Sports Competition in Papua

PersatuanindoNEWS.com - The happiness was clearly evident on the face of the Indonesian Army Chief of Staff (Kasad), General TNI Dr. Dudung Abdurachman, amidst the joy of the Papua community at the closing ceremony of the 2023 Kasad Cup Cultural and Sports Art Competition held at Mandala Stadium in Jayapura, Papua, on Friday (August 18, 2023).

General Dudung descended to the field and danced together with the community after presenting the trophies and appreciation to the champions.

In his closing remarks, Kasad expressed that the cultural and sports art competition in Papua, organized by the Indonesian Army and the Papua Regional Government, could serve as a platform to unearth the potential of the younger generation while preserving the local culture of Papua.

The Kasad Cup competition was held in commemoration of the 78th Anniversary of Indonesian Independence in 2023, with the intention of enlivening the spirit of nationalism and patriotism.

"As we all know, Indonesia has a unique and diverse culture. Each region in Indonesia has its own distinct culture, resulting in unique art forms that differentiate one region from another," said Kasad.

Furthermore, Kasad stated that the province of Papua also possesses many potential talented athletes, who, if professionally managed with good administration, can achieve high sporting achievements for Indonesia.

Kasad also expressed appreciation to the champion football and volleyball athletes who will be given priority to join the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) as Bintara and Army Women's Corps (Kowad) through recruitment.

The closing ceremony of the Cultural and Sports Art Competition at Mandala Stadium in Jayapura was witnessed by approximately 13,000 spectators and featured a colossal dance performance by 240 students from SMAN 4 Jayapura and members of Rindam XVII/Cenderawasih, showcasing a collaboration of cultural arts from across the archipelago.

After presenting the trophies and development appreciation, Kasad announced that the football winners from each province would be sent to Jakarta to participate in the Kasad Cup football tournament and compete against representatives from other provinces.

Additionally, there will also be cultural art competitions and academic quizzes for junior high school to university level students.
