Serang City - persatuanindoNEWS.com || The entire community is urged to always increase vigilance when engaging in activities involving fire to prevent harmful fires.
This was revealed by the Village Development Officer (Babinsa) of Koramil 0602-01/Serang City, Kodim 0602/Serang, Sergeant First Class (Serka) Somad, after extinguishing a fire in one of the residents' houses that occurred on Friday night at 21:10 WIB (Western Indonesian Time). He was accompanied by officers from the Serang City Fire Department in the Ling Magersari area, Kota Baru sub-district, Serang City, Banten Province on Saturday (09/16/2023).
Serka Somad explained that the fire occurred due to the homeowner's carelessness. After finishing smoking, they did not immediately extinguish the cigarette butt and disposed of it in an arbitrary place. As a result, the tissue and paper around the gazebo caught fire and caused the fire to spread.
"Fortunately, after receiving the information, we immediately went to the scene together with the Serang City Fire Department team. The fire was quickly extinguished and did not escalate. Alhamdulillah, there were no casualties in the incident, but the estimated material loss is approximately Rp 5,000,000 (Five Million Rupiah)," he said.
Furthermore, Serda Somad advised all residents to always be cautious when engaging in activities involving fire. Additionally, they should double-check the electrical installations in their homes before leaving the house to prevent any unwanted incidents that may cause harm.
"Let this fire incident serve as an experience for all residents to increase vigilance and prevent fire hazards that can harm us all," he emphasized.
